River Town Christmas events planned in Columbia

The River Town Christmas celebration is planned for Friday and Saturday, December 4 and 5 in Columbia. The tentative schedule for festivities includes:

Friday – Tyrrell County Volunteer Fire Department barbecue fundraiser from 4:30 p.m. until at the corner of Main St. and Broad St.; the hospice memorial tree lighting at the Columbia Theater at 4:30 p.m.; ringing in River Town Christmas church bells from 5-5:15 p.m.; River Town Christmas tree lighting at the Courthouse Square at 6 p.m. There will also be a Facebook Live event with a Santa sighting and announcement of holiday decorating contest awards.

Saturday – Christmas bazaar vendor setup from 8:30-9:45 a.m., ornament take-n-make (free Pocosin Arts craft kits corner of Main St. and Water St.) from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Christmas bazaar (streetside vendors downtown) from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.; Christmas parade at 11 a.m. (social distancing requested) and visits with Santa at the Town Commons from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
