Since its founding in 2006, the all-volunteer U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Cape Hatteras Flotilla 16-4 has been directly assisting the United States Coast Guard Motor Lifeboat Station Hatteras Inlet by providing additional training, facilities and personnel that support the non-law enforcement operations of the United States Coast Guard, among other endeavors, such as safety patrols in local waters and boating safety classes.
In respond to the fire in Buxton on October 23, USCG Auxiliary 16-4 has established a disaster fund to assist Coast Guard personnel from the station.
100% of the donations contributed to the fund go directly to those affected by the fire. So far, Flotilla 16-4 has donated $1000 to the Hatteras Island Disaster Relief Fund.
