The introduction and proliferation of invasive species costs the United States billions of dollars each year in damages, according to information from the Currituck Extension. Additionally, invasive species put native, threatened and endangered species at risk due to predation and resource competition.
To learn more about the invasive species present in North Carolina, new species making their way here and what can be done to help reduce their populations, attend the one-hour Currituck Master Gardener Volunteer online training session.
This event is open to the public and will be conducted by N.C. Cooperative Extension, Currituck Center in partnership with the N.C. State Extension Master Gardener Program, on October 15 from 9 to 10 a.m. Register at https://currituckmastergardenervolunteertraininginvasives.eventbrite.com.
