The Kill Devil Hills Police Department has released its Neighborhood Crime Blotter for July 2020.

Arrests:

Felony Breaking/Entering/Larceny of a Vehicle: On July 28, 2020, while on a call, officers witnessed a suspicious individual. Upon further investigation, officers arrested an individual based on evidence they acquired.

Assault with a Deadly Weapon: On July 28, 2020 at approximately 1:45 a.m., Kill Devil Hills Police Department officers were dispatched to a 911 call concerning a shooting incident on Elizabeth City Street. Kill Devil Hills PD issued an alert for the suspect vehicle. A vehicle matching that description was spotted by the Currituck County Sheriff’s Office. Based on information gathered during the investigation, there was probable cause to charge individuals with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. The shooting was a random incident and not connected to anyone living in the neighborhood, according to KDHPD.

Cases:

On July 6, 2020, an off duty Kill Devil Hills Police Department officer was approached by Currituck County first responders in relation to a water-emergency (boat sinking in the sound). The officer assisted with the rescue operation and helped save a family on the sinking boat as well as participating in “environmental clean-up” in the aftermath.
