A community fish fry is a Saturday summertime tradition in Hatteras village.
The Saturday supper line starts forming shortly before 5 p.m. The fish fry stays open until the fried fish runs out, usually well before the 7 p.m. shut down time.
This year due to COVID-19, the fish fry is take out only. All servers are wearing masks or face shields and organizers ask patrons to do the same.
What’s not different is the menu: golden fried fish, fresh and locally caught; hushpuppies; potato salad; cole slaw and sweet or unsweetened tea or water. Large plates are $13 and small plates are $9. Desserts are available for a donation.
The fish fry is offered through Labor Day weekend.
