Dare County elections director resigns

On Friday, July 24, Dare County’s Board of Elections accepted the resignation of elections director Michele Barnes.
Barnes resigned in closed session.
In public session, the board formally voted 4-1 to accept the resignation effective Aug. 7.
Sandy Semans Ross, chairman of the elections board, confirmed the action.
Ross said the board is in good shape for early voting which starts Oct. 15.
The elections board is considering options regarding staff.
