Cape Hatteras National Seashore has announced the opportunity for interested parties to submit proposals to lease Avon Fishing Pier.
Avon Fishing Pier is located on CHNS beach property adjacent to 41001 NC-12 in Avon. The pier was constructed and first operated in 1964. The lease premises consist of a pier house, which is approximately 2,213 square feet in size, and the wooden fishing pier, which is approximately 666 feet long.
CHNS property in this area is limited to the ocean beach. The lease premises do not have or include an access road, parking area or septic system.
Applicants to the Request for Proposals must provide plans for providing visitor access to the premises, as well as plans to provide any support facilities they determine to be necessary for pier operations.
The National Park Service states it seeks a lessee for Avon Fishing Pier in order to enable continued use of the premises for pier fishing and associated services, as well as provide regular maintenance and upkeep of the premises, including both the pier and pier house.
The Request for Proposals is open June 8 through August 7 and is available at https://nps.gov/caha/getinvolved/leasing.htm.
