Outer Banks SCORE is still open for email and telephone counseling. Mentors are currently required to meet SBA guidance on social distancing and COVID-19 workplace safety, so mentoring sessions are being held by phone and email. To request a session with a SCORE mentor, call 252-256-9717 or email obxscore@gmail.com. Individuals can also go directly to the national SCORE website at SCORE.org and request a mentor.
SCORE covers Dare, Currituck, Pasquotank, Camden, Perquimans, Tyrrell and Hyde counties. There are three mentors located in the Elizabeth City area and six in Dare County.
Live workshops and seminars are currently on hold, but there are many webinars available on the National SCORE website and from both SBA headquarters and the regional SBA office that services North Carolina. Both SCORE National and SBA have information and webinars on how to navigate the economic impact of the COVOD-19 closures and detailed information on loans available.
SBA-NC is running the free webinar “Prepare Your Business for Hurricane Season” on June 9 from 2-3:15 p.m. The webinar will discuss developing a greater awareness of risks, business continuity planning, having adequate insurance coverage and SBA disaster assistance.
