State transportation officials are inviting the public to a virtual information meeting June 4 on the ongoing Rodanthe Bridge project.
The meeting will be held 6 to 8 p.m. on June 4.
The Rodanthe Bridge, which is under construction, is a long-term transportation solution for NC 12. The N.C. Department of Transportation is raising the highway onto a 2.4-mile bridge that extends over the Pamlico Sound between the southern end of the Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge and Rodanthe.
The bridge is due for completion in the fall of 2021. Pile driving for the bridge is anticipated to be complete in the fall or winter of 2020.
After the bridge is constructed, the existing N.C. 12 road at the southern end of the refuge will be removed and the land returned to its natural state.
During the meeting, NCDOT officials and project engineers will provide an update on the project’s progress and answer questions.
People can participate or listen to the meeting by phone or online.
