Chicamacomico Life-Saving Station opens May 26

Chicamacomico Life-Saving Station in Rodanthe opens for the season Tuesday, May 26.

Visit the most complete historic U.S. Life-Saving station of all remaining life-saving stations in North Carolina and one of the most complete sites in the nation.

The station is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Nov. 27 and Saturday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. until Labor Day. The site is closed Sundays.

The crew will be training for the Breeches Buoy Apparatus Drill at 2 p.m., May 28 and June 4.

The public is welcomed at these training sessions.

The first demonstration is set for Thursday, June 11 at 2 p.m. The drill is performed every Thursday to Labor Day.

The station location is 23645 NC 12 in Rodanthe.

The Chicamacomico Historical Association, a non-profit organization, owns, maintains and operates the historic site.
