Tanaya Linette “Tay” Farrow, of Manteo, born April 14, 1975 in Elizabeth City, to the late Joseph “Vernie” Vernon and Bessie Mae Austin Farrow, died May 10, 2020 in Greenville.
Tanaya was a 1993 graduate of Manteo High School and was loved by all her teachers and classmates all through her school years. She was a member of DECA, FBLA, the Pep Club and chorus. After graduation, she worked in various stores in the Tanger Mall. She became a CNA and worked at Britthaven Nursing Facility, a job she loved. After a couple of years, she earned a position in the After School Program at Manteo Elementary School.
After being diagnosed with epilepsy, she was disabled, but she did not let that stop her. She enjoyed life with her children and friends. Tanaya was a very outgoing person who just loved to laugh and could make anybody laugh with her.
Tanaya is survived by mother Bessie Farrow and second mother Lula Tillett both of Manteo; daughters Tyaunah “Ty” Farrow of Manteo and Jakayla “Kayla” Farrow of Greenville; granddaughter Liryc Rawls of Manteo; brother James V. Farrow of Manteo; sisters Rhonda Carver (Calvin) and Necy Morris (Ivan) both of Manteo; aunts Charleen Mathews (Lawrence) of Capron, VA, Sally Simmons (Eddie) of Manteo and Ethel Bowser also of Manteo; and great-aunt, Pensacola McClease of Manteo; six nieces; one great-niece; three nephews; three great-nephews and a host of cousins.
A graveside service was held May 15 at Haven Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Manteo with Elder T.J. Etheridge officiating.
