The Food Bank of the Albemarle, in partnership with Colington United Methodist Church, will visit the parking lot of First Flight Elementary School with the Mobile Food Pantry on Thursday, April 9 from 4:30-6 p.m. Some procedural changes have been noted.
People are asked to not exit their vehicles when they drive up to check in. A volunteer will approach and take necessary information. Volunteers will then load the groceries into each vehicle. Leave sufficient room in the vehicle for volunteers to load the groceries.
Food will be distributed to area residents who struggle to make ends meet and are in need of emergency food assistance. This may be senior citizens living on fixed incomes, disabled persons, any individual or family currently receiving food stamps and working families who are making tough choices between buying food and paying for other necessities.
The food from the Mobile Food Pantry is free, but Dare County residency is required.
