Franklin Frey Fowler, 96, or “Ike” as he is best known, of Grandy, died February 19, 2020. Ike was preceded in death by mother Mary Alice Cozart; father Walter William Fowler; and son Bruce Dwayne Fowler.
Ike was an avid fisherman who had the privilege of fishing the waters of Virginia and North Carolina and taking rides through Walnut Island on the family golf cart. He was a 34-year retiree from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard where he received numerous employee suggestion awards. His most impressive accomplishment was his promotion to Nuclear Inspector.
Ike is survived by wife Mary Amos Fowler; daughter, Dianna Chipley; sons Roger Fowler, Bradley Fowler and Dewey Fowler; nine grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
There will be a “celebration of life” for Ike on February 29 for close family and friends. Please RSVP by Wednesday, February 25 to bradfowler@embarqmail.com if you are planning on attending.
