A woman on a motorcycle was hit on Highway 158 near W. Avalon Drive in Kill Devil Hills around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 7.

Assistant Chief Dana Harris of the Kill Devil Hills Police Department said the female on the motorcycle came out of W. Avalon Drive and made a left turn onto the highway into oncoming traffic. The white Chevrolet Tahoe SUV that hit her had a female driver and male passenger.

The motorcycle rider was taken to the hospital. Some of her belongings were visible on the road with the motorcycle, including her helmet.

Fire and police crews blocked off the highway on both sides to investigate the scene.
