No charges will be filed against the driver of a Chicamacomico Banks Fire Dept. pickup truck involved in a fatal accident.

After an investigation by the Dare County Sheriff’s Office into the circumstances surrounding the deadly incident, the Sheriff’s Office and District Attorney said the driver of the truck won’t be charged.

A 70 year old woman on vacation from Virginia died September 14 at around 2:30 p.m. after being struck by the Chicamacomico Banks Fire Dept. pickup truck. According to investigators, the pickup truck was exiting the beach using the access at the end of the road in the area of Corbina Drive in Rodanthe when the incident occurred.

Upon arrival law officers determined the woman had been run over by the pickup. She was pronounced deceased at the scene by Dare County EMS.
