Staff Report
As of the 2 p.m. update from the National Weather Service, the following warnings and watches are still in effect:
- A Storm Surge Warning is still in effect for Salter Path, North Carolina to Poquoson, Virginia, the Pamlico and Albemarle Sounds and all of Hampton Roads.
- A Hurricane Warning is still in effect for Bogue Inlet to the North Carolina/Virginia border and the Pamlico and Albemarle Sounds.
Hurricane Dorian is now located 125 miles northeast of Cape Hatteras, and is moving northeast at 21 miles per hour with sustained winds near 90 miles per hour. In the last two hours, several weather stations on the Outer Banks north of Hatteras Island recorded sustained winds of 70 to 80 miles per hour with higher recorded gusts. Those winds are now beginning to decrease. We will continue to update the path of Dorian as more information becomes available.
