A turtle was brought in to Roanoke Island Animal Clinic recently with a fish hook stuck in its mouth. The turtle was found in a pond near Walmart in Kitty Hawk.

Dr. Mark Grossman anesthetized the turtle and removed the fish hook. After a course of antibiotics and pain medication, the turtle was released.

Dr. Grossman hopes sharing this information serves a cautionary purpose that “our fishing supplies can hurt our wildlife.”
