The Outer Banks Sentinel published its final print edition on Wednesday, July 31, according to publisher Mark Jurkowitz. The Sentinel, started in 1996, published weekly on Wednesday and has a digital version. Jurkowitz purchased the paper in 2014.

Early in July, Jurkowitz, along with Rick Loesch, owner of East Carolina Radio, Inc., purchased the Outer Banks Voice, an online only news outlet. The Sentinel’s website will merge with the Voice.

East Carolina Radio operates five FM and three AM radio stations in northeastern North Carolina. The radio group has offices in Nags Head, Elizabeth City and Edenton, where it was founded in 1990.
