The Outer Banks SPCA seized more than 80 animals from a residence on Brinkly Drive in Wanchese between April 23 and 24. Seized were dogs, cats, chickens, turkeys, goats, geese, two ponies, one horse, a pig and more.

The investigation was launched after further complaints of animal cruelty were filed with the Outer Banks SPCA. “Environmental conditions were extremely neglected, noxious and unsafe, leading to the removal of the animals,” according to a release from the Outer Banks SPCA.

The search warrant and investigation were executed by team consisting of members from animal care staff and the Animal Control department of the Outer Banks SPCA as well as members of the Dare County Sheriff’s Office. The offices of Environmental Health and Dare County Social Services were also on site.
