The Hyde County Sheriff’s Office has reported via its Facebook page a confirmed tornado touchdown Friday. There was damage in Swan Quarter along the areas of Main Street, Quarter Road and Bridgman Road.

Residents are being checked on and damage is being assessed by law enforcement, the Swan Quarter Volunteer Fire Department and Hyde County Emergency Management.

No injuries have been reported at this time. Structure damage to power poles and farm shops was reported.
