Johnny Fairbanks (left), a sophomore at Cape Hatteras Secondary School, was the winner of the Student Art Show at the recent Hatteras Village Waterfowl Festival in Hatteras Village. His work was chosen from a field of other works that included pencil, oils, carving and painted wood. A cash prize of $100 was presented to Fairbanks by Hatteras Village Civic Board president and Waterfowl organizer, Karla Jarvis. Justin Paxton, art teacher at Cape Hatteras Secondary, was also awarded $225 for the school’s art program from donations raised at a silent auction of vendor donated items.
