A Manteo man was hospitalized after he was shot in the leg on Christmas Eve day. According to the Dare County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened around mid-day on December 24 on Burnside Road near the Head Start building.
Authorities say the shooting apparently stemmed from an argument between two Manteo men. One of the men, Sinatra Dione Brothers, 22, allegedly brandished a handgun and shot the victim in the lower leg. The victim, identified as a man in his mid-twenties, was taken to a Virginia hospital for treatment.
Brothers was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. He has been released on bond. The victim’s name has not been released. Authorities say they plan to interview the victim before deciding if additional charges are warranted.
