Maynard W. Hazen, 67, of Wanchese, was arrested and charged Nov. 3 with felony possession of a schedule II controlled substance with the intent to sell and deliver and with carrying a concealed weapon, Tyrrell County Sheriff Darryl Liverman reported.

A Tyrrell County sheriff’s deputy stopped Hazen’s vehicle on U.S. 64 east of Columbia for a traffic violation at 9 p.m. on Nov. 3.

A search of the vehicle resulted in seizure of 0.9 grams of crack cocaine and a .22-caliber revolver.

Hazen was released on a $1,500 unsecured bond to appear in court on Dec. 12.
