4-H Sharpshooters qualify for state tournament

Currituck 4-H Sharpshooters represented the county well at the recent 2018 Eastern Regional Shooting Sports Qualifier, held at the Eastern 4-H Center in Columbia. Eight members of the Currituck team qualified in four disciplines and will represent the county at the state 4-H Shooting Sports Tournament being held Sept. 29th at Millstone 4-H Camp in Ellerbe.
Kaitlyn Carey, Justin Noon and Bode Fredrick placed first in the Senior Rifle Team (Open Sight) competition, with Kaitlyn scoring third overall individual. Kaitlyn also qualified in the Small Bore Pistol discipline. The Junior Rifle Team (Open Sight), consisting of Jacob Murray, Kilynn Brinkley, Robert Worrell and Emma Solly place third in the team competition. Jacob Murray also qualified in the junior Shotgun discipline. Tucker Melton placed first individual and first overall in the Senior Rifle (Telescopic) discipline.
The state tournament is a qualifying event for senior competitors, for selection to the NC State 4-H team which will compete at the National 4-H Shooting Sports Tournament in Grand Island Nebraska in June 2019.
