Kenneth R. Gooch, Jr.

Kenneth R. Gooch, Jr., or “Kenny” as he was best known, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior July 19, 2018 in Kitty Hawk. Kenny made the ultimate sacrifice. Rough seas claimed his life accidentally as he was saving the lives of  family members.

Kenny was born in Chapel Hill and raised in Greenville. Hardworking, he was employed in various trades, most recently with Melson Junk and Salvage in Powell’s Point. On his personal time, Kenny loved laughing and spending time with his family that he cherished.

Surviving Kenneth Gooch, Jr. are his parents Shirley Gooch of Greenville, and Kenneth Gooch, Sr. of Conetoe; his daughter Summer Lynn Gooch, his son Caleb Wayne Gooch; two sisters Serina Lynn Rowe and Danielle Marie Gooch all of Greenville. Other survivors include his long-time companion Vickie Melson Brock of Powells Point; Vickie’s sons Dillon Melson, Anthony Brock and Blake Brock; special family friend, Bobbie Rickman and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and co-workers.

A graveside memorial service will be held Tuesday July 24, at 10 a.m. at Edgecombe Memorial Park in Tarborro. Pastor Ray Jones will officiate. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to donate toward the funeral expenses of this hero are gratefully asked to do so directly through Gallop Funeral Services, Inc. at 252-216-8030.
